Tajikistan Tourist e-Visa

Tourist visit

The tourist e-Visa is for sightseeing, family visits, and other short leisure travel in Tajikistan. The stay is up to 60 days. You can apply only while you are outside Tajikistan. A single-entry or multiple-entry visa can be requested.

This website is a private application-assistance service. It is not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it is not endorsed by the Government of Tajikistan.

What the tourist e-Visa is

It is the tourism category of the Tajikistan e-Visa, an official document that permits entry and travel in Tajikistan. You complete one form per traveler, pay the consular fee by card, and receive the approved visa by email, with a link to download it.

Use it for sightseeing, family visits, and other short leisure travel. It is an alternative to a tourist visa issued by a Tajik mission or at a port of entry. It does not authorize employment.

Who can apply

Eligibility depends on nationality. Some nationalities have extra requirements, which are shown after you choose your nationality and travel dates.

You can use the tourist form when:

  • You are outside Tajikistan when you apply.
  • Your nationality is eligible for the e-Visa.
  • The visit is sightseeing, a family visit, or other leisure travel.
  • The stay is not more than 60 days.
  • Each traveler, including a child, has their own passport.

Meetings and other short business travel use the business visa. A longer stay, employment, or study needs a visa from a Tajik mission.

Validity and stay

The tourist e-Visa has a validity window for entry, and a separate limit on how long you may remain in Tajikistan.

Aspect Details
Validity Valid for 90 days. Enter within that period, on any date inside the validity window.
Stay Up to 60 days. Leave before the stay and the visa expire.
Earlier entry Entry earlier than the date printed on the visa needs a new application.
Entry type Single entry or multiple entry.
Purpose Tourism. The visa does not authorize employment.

Overstaying can lead to a fine, deportation, or a ban on future travel to Tajikistan. Check the dates printed on the approval before you travel.

Requirements

Details on the form must match the passport exactly. Approved name, passport number, and dates stay fixed.

  • Passport validity — Valid for at least six months after the visa you request, and for at least six months from the date you intend to enter.
  • Blank pages — At least two blank pages.
  • Purpose — Tourism, for a stay of up to 60 days.
  • Location — You are outside Tajikistan when you apply.
  • One traveler per form — Including each child.

At the border

  • The same passport named on the e-Visa.
  • A digital or printed copy of the approval.
  • A GBAO permit if you will enter that region, used on the date shown.

Documents

Prepare these before you start the tourist application.

What to upload

  • Passport scan — A clear copy of the biodata page, with the machine-readable zone fully visible.
  • Portrait photo — A recent photo that meets the photo rules.
  • Travel dates — Intended arrival and departure, and the border point you plan to use.
  • Email — The address that will receive the download link.
  • Card — Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

Some nationalities are asked for more documents after the nationality and dates are chosen. A trip into Gorno-Badakhshan also needs the separate permit.

When to apply

Apply about two weeks ahead, while you are still outside Tajikistan. Additional requirements can depend on nationality and travel dates, so a last-minute request leaves little time to correct a passport detail.

  • Submit one tourist application for each traveler.
  • Use the passport you will carry to the border.
  • Allow time for a GBAO permit if the route enters the Pamirs.
  • Read the approval as soon as it arrives. If it does not match the passport, do not travel on it.

The procedure page sets out the same steps in order.

Fees

You pay a consular fee by card. A separate permit fee is added when the tourist trip includes GBAO. This website also charges an assistance fee. The total is shown before you pay, and it is charged per traveler.

  • Single entry — Tajik missions publish the consular fee as USD 30.
  • Multiple entry — Tajik missions publish the consular fee as USD 50.
  • GBAO permit — USD 20, added only when that region is included.

Payments are not refunded for a denied, cancelled, or unused e-Visa, or for an unused GBAO permit.

Calendar and an approved message

At the border

Carry the same passport named on the tourist e-Visa, and a digital or printed copy of the approval. The passport details must match the visa exactly.

  • Enter on a date inside the validity period, and on or after the date printed on the visa.
  • E-Visa holders may enter through all border points.
  • Dushanbe International Airport and Khujand International Airport accept the e-Visa.
  • Carry the GBAO permit if you will enter that region, and use it on the date shown.
  • Leave before the stay and the visa expire.

An approval is checked again at the border. Keep a copy on your phone or on paper in case the border system is unavailable.

Single and multiple entry

A tourist visit can be requested as single entry or multiple entry. Choose the one that matches the trip before you pay. Approved dates and the entry type stay fixed.

  • Single entry — One entry during the 90-day validity. The consular fee published by Tajik missions is USD 30.
  • Multiple entry — More than one entry during the validity window. The published consular fee is USD 50. Each stay still cannot exceed 60 days, and you must leave before the visa expires.

Leaving Tajikistan on a single-entry visa uses that entry. A later return needs a new application.

A longer stay

The tourist e-Visa does not allow a stay longer than 60 days, and it cannot be changed after approval. Leave before the visa expires.

  • A different entry date needs a new application.
  • A visit longer than 60 days, or a purpose other than tourism, needs a visa from a Tajik mission.
  • Overstaying can lead to a fine, deportation, or a ban on future travel to Tajikistan.

Your nationality

Whether you can use the tourist e-Visa depends on the passport you hold. Some nationalities have extra requirements. Those appear after you choose your nationality and travel dates on the form.

Check the country list before you start. If your nationality is not eligible for the e-Visa, apply through a Tajik mission. Each traveler is assessed on their own passport, including a child.

GBAO permit

Tourism in the Pamirs needs more than the tourist e-Visa. GBAO, the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, requires a separate single-entry permit. The districts include Khorog, Darvoz, Vanj, Rushon, Ishkoshim, and Murghob.

  • Request the permit with the tourist e-Visa.
  • Enter that region on the date shown on the permit.
  • Tajik missions publish the permit fee as USD 20.

Travel to GBAO without the permit is a reason an application fails at the border. See the GBAO zone map for areas a tourist e-Visa covers and areas that need the permit. The requirements page has the permit notes.
