Recent visa updates

Latest notes for travelers applying for a Tajikistan e-Visa.

Apply from outside Tajikistan

An e-Visa can still be requested only while you are outside the country. The stay remains a short visit of up to 60 days, for tourism or business.

Passport validity

Your passport should remain valid for at least six months after the visa you request, and for at least six months from the date you intend to enter.

Gorno-Badakhshan permit

Travel to GBAO still needs a separate single-entry permit in addition to the e-Visa. Enter that region on the date shown on the permit.

Approved details stay fixed

Name, passport number, and dates cannot be changed after approval. A different entry date needs a new application.

One form for each traveler

Every traveler, including each child, needs a separate application. The passport used on the form is the passport you must carry to the border.

Photo and passport scan

Upload a recent colour portrait and a clear scan of the passport biodata page. The passport should also have at least two blank pages.

Fees shown before payment

Single entry is USD 30 and multiple entry is USD 50. A GBAO permit is USD 20 and is added only when the trip enters the Pamirs. Pay by Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

Allow about two weeks

Processing commonly takes about three business days after payment. Apply about two weeks before travel, because some files take longer.

Keep a copy with you

The approved e-Visa is emailed, and it can also be downloaded from the status page. Carry a copy on your phone or on paper with the same passport.

Leave before the stay ends

Depart before both the allowed stay and the visa expire. Overstaying can lead to a fine, deportation, or a ban on future travel to Tajikistan.

Entry during the visa dates

You may enter on any day inside the validity period. Entering earlier than the date printed on the visa needs a new application.

All border points

An approved e-Visa can be used at every border point, including Dushanbe and Khujand international airports. No e-Visa is required if you stay inside the international transit area.

Business visits only

A business e-Visa covers meetings and other short business travel. It does not by itself authorize employment in Tajikistan.

Does each traveler need a separate e-Visa?

Yes. Each person, including a child, must have their own passport and their own e-Visa.

Do I have to enter on the exact date in the application?

No. You may enter on any date within the validity period. If you want to enter earlier than the date on the e-Visa, you must make a new application. A GBAO permit is different: you should enter that region on the date specified.

No. Approved information cannot be changed, and a date change needs a new e-Visa. If the visa does not match the passport, it is invalid. The applicant is responsible for mistakes, and the fee is not refunded.

Is the fee refunded if I am refused or I do not travel?

No. Payments are not refunded for a denied, cancelled, or unused e-Visa, or for an unused GBAO permit.

Can I stay longer than 60 days?

No. You cannot stay more than 60 days, and you must leave before the e-Visa expires. The e-Visa is only for tourism and business.

What is a GBAO permit?

GBAO is the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. It requires a special permit in addition to the e-Visa. The permit is single entry.

Can I enter at any border?

Yes. Holders may enter the Republic of Tajikistan through all border points. You do not need an e-Visa if you will not leave the international transit area.
