Tajikistan e-Visa Requirements

Document checklist

These requirements apply to a Tajikistan e-Visa for a short tourism or business visit. You can apply only while you are outside Tajikistan. The stay is up to 60 days, and the visa is valid for 90 days.

This website is a private application-assistance service. It is not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it is not endorsed by the Government of Tajikistan.

What you need

Prepare these before you start. Details on the form must match the passport exactly. Approved name, passport number, and dates stay fixed.

Example of a portrait photo

Portrait photo

A recent photo that meets the photo rules. File size and background rules are on the photo page.

Example of a passport biodata page

Passport biodata scan

A clear copy of the full biodata page, with the photograph, personal details, and machine-readable zone visible.

Person completing an online visa form

Trip details and payment

Travel dates, a contact email, and a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card. The total is shown before you pay.

Passport

The passport you upload is the passport you must carry. A shorter validity, or a different document at the border, makes the e-Visa unusable.

After the visa Valid for at least six months after the visa you request.
From entry Valid for at least six months from the date you intend to enter.
Blank pages At least two blank pages.
Same passport The passport named on the e-Visa is the one presented at the border.
Where you apply You are outside Tajikistan when you submit the form.

Uploads

The portrait and the biodata scan are separate files. Both must be clear enough to read.

  • Portrait — A recent photo of the traveler named on the form.
  • Biodata page — The full page, including the machine-readable zone, without blur or glare that hides the text.
  • Form fields — Name, date of birth, and passport number exactly as printed.
  • Email — The address that will receive the download link.

Tourism

A tourist e-Visa covers sightseeing, family visits, and other short leisure travel. The stay is up to 60 days. A single-entry or multiple-entry visa can be requested.

  • Intended arrival and departure dates, inside a stay of not more than 60 days.
  • The border point you plan to use.
  • A GBAO permit when the route enters the Pamirs.

Some nationalities are asked for more documents after the nationality and dates are chosen.

Business

A business e-Visa covers meetings, conferences, and short commercial visits. It does not authorize employment or paid work. Work, study, or a stay longer than 60 days needs a visa from a Tajik mission.

  • The same passport, photo, and biodata scan as a tourist application.
  • Proof of the trip may be requested, such as an invitation, tickets, or accommodation.
  • A GBAO permit when the route enters that region.

Transit

No e-Visa is required if you stay inside the international transit area and do not pass immigration. This website does not issue a separate transit e-Visa.

  • Leaving the transit area, collecting baggage that requires entry, changing airports, or staying outside the airport is an entry.
  • That entry uses a tourist e-Visa or a business e-Visa, or a visa from a Tajik mission.
  • Airline procedures can still require a visa for some nationalities even for a short airside wait. Check with the airline before you travel.
  • A GBAO permit is not used for airside transit. It is required only if the trip enters GBAO.

GBAO permit

GBAO, the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, needs a separate single-entry permit in addition to the tourist or business e-Visa. The districts include Khorog, Darvoz, Vanj, Rushon, Ishkoshim, and Murghob.

  • Request the permit with the e-Visa.
  • Enter that region on the date shown on the permit.
  • Tajik missions publish the permit fee as USD 20. The amount charged on this site is shown before you pay.
  • Travel to GBAO without the permit is a reason the trip fails at the border.

Maps of e-Visa areas and GBAO permit areas are on the GBAO zone page.

Each traveler

Each person, including a child, needs their own passport, their own portrait, their own biodata scan, and their own e-Visa. A child cannot be added to a parent's application.

Fees are charged per traveler. Payments are not refunded for a denied, cancelled, or unused e-Visa, or for an unused GBAO permit.

Nationality

Whether you can use the e-Visa depends on the passport you hold. Some nationalities have extra requirements. Those appear after you choose your nationality and travel dates on the form.

If your nationality is not eligible for the e-Visa, apply through a Tajik mission. Each traveler is assessed on their own passport.

At the border

An approval is checked again at the border. Carry a copy on your phone or on paper in case the border system is unavailable.

  • The same passport named on the e-Visa.
  • A digital or printed copy of the approval.
  • Entry through any border point, including Dushanbe International Airport and Khujand International Airport.
  • Entry on a date inside the 90-day validity, and on or after the date printed on the visa. An earlier date needs a new application.
  • The GBAO permit, used on the date shown, if you will enter that region.
  • Departure before the stay and the visa expire. Overstaying can lead to a fine, deportation, or a ban.

Before you submit

Apply about two weeks ahead, while you are still outside Tajikistan. A last-minute request leaves little time to correct a passport detail or add a GBAO permit.

Checklist

  1. Confirm the visit is tourism or business, for up to 60 days.
  2. Check both passport-validity rules, and that two blank pages remain.
  3. Prepare a portrait and a clear biodata-page scan.
  4. Add an invitation, tickets, or accommodation if the form asks for them.
  5. Add a GBAO permit if the route enters Gorno-Badakhshan.
  6. Read every field against the passport, then pay. The total is shown before payment.

Reasons an application fails

  • Passport validity shorter than the rule for the requested visa
  • Name, date of birth, or passport number that does not match the passport
  • A blurry biodata scan or an unreadable portrait
  • Applying while already in Tajikistan
  • A stay or purpose outside tourism and business
  • Travel to GBAO without the extra permit
  • Entering before the date printed on the visa

A refused or invalid application is not corrected in place. A new application is required, and the earlier fee is not returned.
