Four situations travelers meet when they prepare a Tajikistan e-Visa. They show what to check. They do not promise a result.
How to read these examples
The e-Visa on this site is for tourism or business. The stay is not more than 60 days, and the visa is valid for 90 days. You can apply only while you are outside Tajikistan. Eligibility depends on nationality.
Tourism
A short sightseeing visit
A traveler wanted a holiday of less than 60 days and was still outside Tajikistan. The nationality needs a visa, which the country list is there to check.
The form used the passport that would be carried to the border. The portrait and the biodata scan were readable, and the travel dates sat inside a 90-day validity window. The route did not enter Gorno-Badakhshan, so no separate permit was added.
Apply about two weeks ahead, while you are still outside Tajikistan. Extra documents can depend on nationality and travel dates.
Business
Meetings, not a job
A traveler was coming for short meetings. The visit was business, so the tourist category was the wrong choice. The e-Visa does not by itself authorize employment. A longer stay, a job, study, or residence needs a visa from a Tajik mission.
After the nationality and the dates were entered, the form showed what else that trip needed. Those files were added before payment, and the same passport was the one named on the application.
Read the business visa page before you choose a type. Match the purpose to the trip.
Family
A parent and a child
Two people were traveling together. Each one, including the child, needed a separate passport and a separate form. One passport number had two digits swapped.
The mistake was caught by reading the form against the passport page before payment. A file that names the wrong passport cannot be used at the border. If the error is found only after submission, that traveler needs a new application.
Check the name, the passport number, and the date of birth for every person before you pay.
GBAO
A route into the Pamirs
The holiday included the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. The tourist e-Visa covered the entry into Tajikistan. It did not replace the permit for that region.
The permit was requested with the e-Visa. It is single entry, and the traveler enters that region on the date shown on the permit. Dushanbe and Khujand airports accept an approved e-Visa. This site does not issue a visa collected at the airport.
Add the GBAO permit when the route enters that region. Read the tourist visa page for the stay and the validity.
What these examples share
One application for each traveler, made from outside Tajikistan.
A passport that stays valid for at least six months after the visa you request and for at least six months from the intended entry date, with at least two blank pages.
A readable portrait and a readable scan of the passport biodata page. The photo and passport page shows what a clear file looks like.
The same passport at the border as the one named on the e-Visa.
After you submit, follow the file on the status page with the reference number.
Questions
Are these real applications?
No. They are illustrations of situations travelers ask about. They are not a record of a named person, and they are not a promise that an application will be approved.
Does each person need a separate e-Visa?
Yes. Each traveler, including a child, needs their own passport and their own application. The name and passport number on the file must match the passport presented at the border.
What if a passport number is wrong?
Check every field against the passport before you pay. A file that names the wrong passport cannot be used at the border. A correction after submission needs a new application.
Does a trip to the Pamirs need anything else?
Yes. A trip into the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region needs a separate single-entry permit, in addition to the e-Visa. You enter that region on the date shown on the permit.
